In this news release of 30 October 2023, the President of the Treasury Board, Anita Anand, announced that from that day the WeChat and Kaspersky suite of applications would be removed from government-issued mobile devices and that users of these devices would also be blocked from downloading them in the future. The decision is based on a determination by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Canada. The ban has the same scope as the February 2023 ban on TikTok, namely government-issued mobile devices under the Treasury Board's Policy on Service and Digital.

Résumé
Dans ce communiqué de presse du 30 octobre 2023, la présidente du Conseil du Trésor, Anita Anand, a annoncé qu'à compter de ce jour WeChat et la suite d'applications Kaspersky seraient supprimées des appareils mobiles fournis par le gouvernement du Canada et que les utilisateurs de ces appareils ne pourraient plus les télécharger. La décision repose sur une évaluation du dirigeant principal de l'information (DPI) du Canada. L'interdiction a la même portée que celle visant TikTok en février 2023, à savoir les appareils mobiles fournis par le gouvernement dans le cadre de la Politique sur les services et le numérique du Conseil du Trésor.
