Summary
The IEC 62351 series defines the security of the communication protocols used in power systems: IEC 61850 substation communications (including GOOSE and Sampled Values), IEC 60870-5 and DNP3 telecontrol, and MMS and TCP/IP profiles with TLS. It also covers key and certificate management in power system equipment, role-based access control, network and system monitoring through dedicated data objects, and architecture guidelines for grids with distributed energy resources. It is the reference for transmission and distribution operators and for manufacturers of protection and grid automation equipment.
