Summary

The American Petroleum Institute standard sets cybersecurity requirements for the control systems of oil, gas and hazardous liquid pipelines. The third edition broadens the scope from SCADA alone to all pipeline industrial control systems and proposes a complete security programme: governance, risk assessment, zone-based architecture, access, configuration and vulnerability management, monitoring, incident response and recovery, with references to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. It is widely used by US operators subject to TSA security directives.
