In force ·
Summary
The law is China's core cybersecurity statute. It sets security duties for network operators, a stricter regime for critical information infrastructure, rules on data localisation and security assessments for cross-border transfers, and user identification requirements. The October 2025 amendment, in force from 1 January 2026, adds provisions on artificial intelligence, raises penalties and allows measures against foreign entities that harm China's network security.
